Introduction
When it rains, water flows down our roofs and yards and into the city storm drains. Along the way it picks up trash, pet waste and any other pollutants in its path. This polluted stormwater then flows to our rivers, lakes and the ocean where we fish and swim.
These pollutants are not healthy for the plants and animals downstream or for us! |
City engineers design ways to keep pollutants from flowing into the stormwater system, including putting up signs asking us to pick up our litter, putting grates on the storm drains and building natural areas with rocks and plants to filter the water.
If you were a city planner, what elements would you design to reduce stormwater pollution? Use Minecraft to design and build elements you would use to keep our waterways clean.
